Ciudad Quesada is one of the most popular places to live on the southern Costa Blanca, and it’s just down the road from my office in Benijófar.
Where is Ciudad Quesada?
Ciudad Quesada belongs to the municipality of Rojales, in the Vega Baja area in the south of Alicante province. It was started in the 1970s by the Spanish entrepreneur Justo Quesada and has grown into a town in its own right, with supermarkets, shops, banks and dozens of bars and restaurants. Plenty of people live here all year round, so it doesn’t empty out in winter.
The nearest beaches are at Guardamar del Segura, roughly 8 to 10 km away, about a 10 to 15-minute drive. Torrevieja is around 15 minutes away, and Alicante airport is usually 35 to 45 minutes by car.
Golf, cycling and the outdoor life
La Marquesa golf course is right inside Ciudad Quesada, so many homes are within a few minutes of the first tee. The area is also great for cycling and walking. One of the most popular routes follows the River Segura from Quesada down to the beach at Guardamar, and another runs past the salt lakes towards Torrevieja.
The different parts of Quesada
Quesada is made up of many neighbourhoods, each with its own feel. They include Centro Quesada, La Marquesa Golf, Doña Pepa, Lo Marabú, Atalaya, Lo Pepín and Pueblo Bravo. Some are close to the busy commercial centre, others are quieter and more residential. I’m happy to show you around so you can get a feel for them before you choose.
What kind of property can you buy?
Ciudad Quesada has a wide mix of homes: detached villas, many with their own pool; semi-detached and quad houses; bungalows; townhouses and apartments. Most are resale homes on established developments, often with a communal pool, and there are some newer builds too. It suits holiday-home buyers and people moving out for good alike.
