Rojales is a traditional Spanish town on the River Segura, a few minutes from my office in Benijófar.
Where is Rojales?
Rojales sits in the Vega Baja, the fertile river valley in the south of Alicante province. The municipality is bigger than the old town suggests: it also includes Ciudad Quesada, La Marquesa golf course and residential areas such as Rojales Hills.
Guardamar del Segura and its beaches are around 15 minutes away by car, Torrevieja about 20 minutes, and Alicante airport usually 35 to 45 minutes.
A real Spanish town
The old centre of Rojales still feels very Spanish, with its church, local bars, shops and the town hall close to the river. Its best-known landmark is the Carlos III bridge, built between 1787 and 1790, which stands beside an old weir and a waterwheel.
On the hillside above the town are the Cuevas del Rodeo, cave houses that have been turned into artisans’ workshops and small galleries. It’s a lovely place for a walk, and there are riverside paths and cycle routes heading towards Guardamar and the coast.
What kind of property can you buy?
In and around the old town you’ll find traditional Spanish townhouses and apartments, often good value for their size. Outside the centre there are villas, bungalows and townhouses on residential developments such as Rojales Hills, many with communal pools, and Ciudad Quesada is right next door if you’d like more choice.
Buying in Rojales with White Coast
I’ve been helping people buy and sell in the Rojales area since 2003. I don’t always have one of my own listings here, but I work with around 400 collaborating agencies, so I can find and show you most of the homes on the market. You deal with me from the first viewing to the day you get your keys.
